Qalibaf starts electoral campaign

December 2nd, 2007 · 2 Comments

I had already explained in this blog how Mohammed Baqer Qalibaf, seen as Ahmadinejad’s likely opponent in the 2009 presidential elections, is the target of several government activities that, in good Iranian style, look like something completely different.

But Qalibaf, currently the mayor of Tehran, is not the type that gives up that easily. He has recently started his unofficial electoral campaign – and not exactly in a smooth way! It even seems that he has some major elements of the religious establishment on his side.

Interesting times are on their way, apparently.
