What's cooking up in Iran these days while the war drums seem to beat loud in the rest of the world? (at least that's what you hear in the foreign news)
Admittedly, this blog has been a bit silent due to the lack of interesting pieces of news. Let's see some of the least boring ones, in the form of a small news clip.
Let's start with politics then. Well, Ahmadinejad
lost the elections (and didn't seem to care too much about it). This we have known for a while. But we're not too interested in politics here, so let's pass on this one.
Into city life: some top-notch experts have actually come up with a way to save Tehran from the increasing
population growth, which in turn generates traffic and pollution. What is it? of course,
moving the capital! We all wait for Ahmadinejad to relocate to Tabriz or Mashhad.
But we're not too excited about this one either, are we?
What about culture? well, here the Iranian talent in heritage preservation has shown its best side, with the
excellent maintenance work that was carried out at Tehran's Imam mosque, as well as the flawless,
bang-on-schedule reconstruction of Bam's citadel.
Tourism? yes, but
the Islamic way. And no matter if most women in the world (including so many Iranians)
do mind covering their head and wearing long, dark-coloured coats in the summer.
Fashion? go for it!!! and what better than a fashion parade displaying
radical-muslim-friendly creations?
What about foreign policy? oh, no, please, not that UN security council again, and not again Bush's or Condi's rants on a nuclear programme that must be assumed to be peaceful unless somebody proves otherwise. No, thanks. Let's instead go and see
what the neighbours think of Iran's anti-Western policies.
Oh, and did you know that Iran and Belarus will now
defend one another should somebody start to be pissed off with either of the two presidents' latest madness spree?
This is so interesting that it deserves further investigation. More some other day, very soon.
